Cleaning of register exercise was based on examination of records and not of patients. Because of this exercise, names of 5676 patients were deleted for various reasons viz. completed FDT, Defaulter, AMDT etc. The findings of the present study are more or less similar to the finding of similar other studies carried out in different countries from time to time. Updating of leprosy registers should be a routine activity.
